A five-step guide to help you choose bedding with peace of mind

1. Inquire about yarn density

Many people are often misled into buying 100% cotton and high-density fabrics when purchasing bedding, but they don't know how to identify them. 100% cotton fabrics can be identified by checking the product label. High yarn density is a more professional term, referring to the number of yarns per square centimeter. Generally speaking, fabrics with a yarn density of 40 or more can be called high-count and high-density fabrics, which are considered to be relatively good fabrics.

2. Look at the gradient color

Formaldehyde can cause serious harm to human health, and the excess formaldehyde in fabrics is mainly caused by the use of inferior dyes. Therefore, the judgment of dyes is very important when choosing bedding. We know that if the color fades severely during washing, it indicates that the quality of the dye is poor. However, before purchasing, we cannot predict whether the product will fade, so we need to rely on other methods to identify it. Observation: For fabrics dyed with reactive dyes, if the color is gradient and the color is soft, and the color transition can be clearly seen, it indicates that it is a high-quality dye. If the color is stiff and lacks transition, you should consider carefully. Smell: In addition to looking at the color, you can also use your nose to smell the fabric. Reactive dyes are generally odorless. If there is a pungent smell, the formaldehyde content may be too high, so don't buy it. 3. Check the filling When choosing a quilt, you should check the filling yourself. Bedding products produced by regular manufacturers usually leave a pull-out opening so that consumers can check the filling. If there is no pull-out opening and the filling cannot be seen, do not buy it easily. Often, quilts that feel very comfortable to the touch may have unsafe fillings.

4. Pulling the thread

Silk quilts use animal protein beneficial to the human body as a filling and are currently very popular. When purchasing, it is necessary to identify high-quality silk. Pull out a little silk, on the one hand, to observe whether the silk is evenly distributed or clumped together; on the other hand, to manually test the ductility of the silk. Evenly distributed and highly extensible silk is high-quality silk. The newly launched soybean fiber quilts on the market are made by using high technology to turn soybeans into fibers, but many are inferior products, so before purchasing, check the content of soybean fiber in the label. Generally, good products should have a content of around 90%.

5. Seven-hole or nine-hole cotton

There are many types of quilts on the market now, and even nine-hole or ten-hole cotton has appeared. A reminder to everyone: currently, the highest level of hollow cotton certified by the state is seven holes; anything exceeding seven holes is false advertising by the manufacturer.
